Weeeeeee! 100th blog post! Can’t believe I’ve actually been posting that long!

That (rather grainy) image above is a snap I took of our kitchen shelves. I bought those awesome letters at the new Typo shop at Canal Walk. Now I can remind myself to EAT! Yeah it’s not like I needed a reminder!

The shop is pretty cute looking, but what’s even better is that it’s filled to the brim with awesome stationery, crafty items, gifts and gadgets. I took at least half an hour to scan through everything to make sure I got all the best stuff – my boyfriend is both really awesome and really patient!

I left with my wallet feeling substantially lighter, but it was so worth it! I totally geeked out with some organizing goodies, like a business card file (!) and a handy notepad that I can keep right next to my laptop. I’m always jotting down tasks and reminders as I work, so this is super handy. I also got a cute pencil cup, two rolls of washi tape and some lovely twine. I’ve been meaning to order some washi tape from Etsy, so this saved me about half of what I would have spent on shipping. Awesome!

The business card file and washi tape in action. I’m really loving all these bits I’m getting together for my office space. It feels more and more like an official office space. Even though I can see my office from my bed – ha!

Also I advise everyone to have Mallow Mice for breakfast. It does wonders for your stress levels!

I can’t really have a weekend round up without showing my manicure. I went pink and aggressively sparkly with OPI Excuse Moi. I’ll admit it’s probably a little too glittery and twee for most, but I love it.

It was a Scrubs-a-thon at the Dalton-Walter residence. This is now our third (I think…) watch through. Yes, we are crazy like that. I <3 Turk & J.D. forever…

Finished off the weekend with date night at Taiwan City restaurant. They have an amazing (and affordable) hotpot special for two. I ended the weekend with a belly full of delicious dim sum, chicken hotpot and crispy pork. Hmmmm I want to go back there right now!

Had a veeeeery homebound weekend. My dearest has a pretty nasty cold, so I had to stay home to tend to his every need and all that jazz. I kept my hands busy by focussing on my… hands. Both are a variation on plain nails with a small sprinkling of glitter. First up I used Essie Big Spender with an extra layer of OPI Excuse Moi on the accent nail. Then I switched it up with Essence Cookies & Cream with two layers of OPI Rainbow Connection on the accent nail. I really never imagined I would ever wear nude polish, but I have to say… I like it! It definitely does give an elongated look to my fingers.

Managed to make it to Canal Walk. Happened across a 50% off sale at Jay Jays, so I scooped up as many of these bodycon skirts as I could. I showed Jason that leatherette version and his response was simply “Scary.” Ah boyfriends and fashion. Ne’er the twain shall meet.

Last night I indulged in some late night baking. Its what happens when I crave a treat and all the shops nearby are closed! I found this great recipe for Lemon Cardamom cake. Sweet mercy, it was good. The lemon glaze icing is so tart and perfect… The perfect sweet ending to my weekend.

Hope y’all had a great weekend too!

Drinks on Friday afternoon at the Saatchi & Saatchi offices. Loved this view.

Saturday breakfast at Origin Coffee. Holy guacamole their coffee is so strong. Reality-altering strong.

Finally gave a second life to some old Président jars. I’m now practically an expert in removing stubborn-as-fuck labels from glass. My hands and nails do not thank me.

Saturday shopping stash. Unintentionally girly pink. I finished Emma Forrest’s Your Voice in My Head in less than half a day. Man, it is so good. Heart wrenching. Beautiful. Honest. Haven’t been touched by writing like this in a long time.

Sunday turned out to be one of those crazy family drama days. Treated myself to a movie date with my love to clear the cobwebs. The Artist was good, but the dog totally stole the show. (And yes, I’m totally that person who takes pictures of the movie screen)

Using some of the scribbles I did on my friend’s iPad this weekend. Definitely want to get one of my own!

Lovely coffee with a friend at Knead. Kind of awesome having them right down the road from my flat. Their food is pretty damn amazing too!

We bought this rather large brass horse recently. I’ve since named him ‘Vonk’ (spark in Afrikaans) and can’t not smile when I walk past him. The brass love is alive and well in the Dalton-Walter household.

Got crafty and DIY’ed this box with eyes. Inspired completely by the work of Ma & Chr of course. I’ll admit its kinda weird, but then again… I like weird.

Hanging out with friends until the wee hours of the morn. Working & collaborating. Talking crap. Messing with techie gadgets. Watching terrible movies. Wine, whisky & Milo. Good times.

Finished off the weekend with a movie outing with my pops. Young Adult is all kinds of awesome and Charlize was by all accounts, stellar. I found the movie was so relatable to the point where I found it almost uncomfortable! I’d say it is the least try-hard of Diablo Cody’s works so far. Go watch it!

Started of the Easter weekend with a dim sum feast. Dumplings are kind of like crack to me these days!

The weather this weekend was truly craptastic – which was awesome! Awesome in a way you’ll only understand if you’re a Capetonian who has had to suffer through this last endless summer.

Took the time to clean our chandelier, which is much more relaxing a task than I thought at first. Sparkly!

Coffee and a little peek of Kurt at Canal Walk.

Went there to grab a bite to eat and to amass this wondrous Easter stash!

Attempted to keep track of my outfits. Rather… unsuccessfully. But I’m making it a goal to get better at it.

Late night coffee and apple tart with my love.

Cool park typography seen on the way to Rafikis. Need to get hold of this font.

Fallen into the black hole that is Bid-or-Buy! It’s like Gumtree or Craiglist, but it has an online payment facility. Which is both a good thing, and a bad thing, to a vintage scavenger like me! That there is my latest acquisition, a teeny duck bookend.

Hope y’all had a good weekend!

2012 was quite a year. And the world didn’t end! Fancy that.
